Patriots by James Rawles
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
So I just finished "Patriots: A Novel of Survival in the Coming Collapse" by James Wesley.
SPOILER! The evil government liberals did it!
You'll only survive if you're military trained, you should always start conversations with strangers by discussing the make and model of your gun and what modifications you did to it, the French and Germans are evil, oh and everyone will convert to Christianity by the end of the Second Civil War. It's inevitable.
The stilted writing and hackneyed plot reads like a primer for what gear to buy to survive when the entire government collapses and you happen to already have a pre-built bunker-house in remote Idaho.
Aside from those gripes, I found the story interesting. I enjoyed the guerrilla warfare to take back the country, and I found the amendments to the constitution quite intriguing.
